"CBAM": What is it? Understanding Carbon Tax Measures, a Key Step for Export Markets
What is CBAM? 'CBAM' or Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism is the European Union's carbon price adjustment measure before crossing borders, designed to prevent carbon leakage. This means that manufacturers with production bases in countries without strict greenhouse gas emission management measures send goods to sell in the European Union (EU). This results in the import of goods with lower product costs but, conversely, higher carbon content into the European Union, due to the absence of production costs aligned with the EU's measures regarding greenhouse gas emissions management.
